Selling Hand Stamped Jewelry on Etsy

Etsy is a great way to sell your hand-stamped jewelry online. There is no need to rent space at an office building, you can check your orders from your home computer and mail them out when you have the time. And getting paid is easy with PayPal.

Be sure to have an attractive home page on Etsy. State the name of your shop in the banner at the top of the page and a brief announcement. Keep your shop policies in the ‘Shop Policies’ section, along with any personal information in the ‘Bio.’

Always have three showcased items at the top of your storefront, these are attention-getters for shop owners. Make sure they are your best items and feature your style predominately. Keep your backgrounds consistent and neutral; do not allow them to overpower your jewelry items.

Respond to convos in a timely manner, nothing says laziness more than a delayed response to a question. Visit the forums frequently and reply to posts as much as you can, this will help get exposure to your site and your name out there.

When an order comes in, be sure to send a thank you note and let the customer know when their order will be shipped. Customers do not like to be ignored, especially when they spend money on a handmade item. Be courteous and polite and ship their item on time. Include a little thank you note thanking them for their purchase and perhaps enclose a business card. Do not  overload their package with multiple business cards or cards from other businesses, this can constitute as spam.

I'm always impressed with the number of cool crafts at etsy. I always wonder how sellers get their items to "stand out" in the crowd. This article applies to a different set of crafts than my primary interests, but the advice seems sound across the board.

I'd think the topic of pricing one's etsy or other market items also would interest me.
